So I took my ar to sight it in the other day and it worked great...no problems (200 rd. shot that day) except for an issue with the pmag.  I've been running into one problem in particular:

the pmag with window 30RD. will not stay in the magazine well. I have to jam the mag in there VERY hard to get the mag catch to hold it

So I cleaned the rifle and stuck a pmag in there yesterday with about 20 rds and it is still very difficult to get to stay in there. I then go to load a round in the chamber and the round got stuck 6 out of 9 times. Im using a steel case TulAmmo .223.

Has anyone else seen this problem???

Is it a problem with just that one magazine, or any 30 rd, PMAG?
If it is just that one, could be a lemon. If it is all, look at the magazine catch components with
a critical eye, anything out of the ordinary?

i haven't tried any other pmags...however I did try some federal 65 grain and that seemed to load a little easier. I really think it's just the ammo. I'm about to go try some more and see how that goes. I really just wanted to see if anyone else was having this problem

Is the bolt open or closed when you are loading a full magazine?

^This.  It's always harder to load with the bolt closed.  I've also noticed that the pmags need to be seated slightly harder than steel mags, but nothing crazy.  You can try loosing the screw on the mag release slightly.

Your issue is not related to steel case ammo.

I'm curious as to why the brass ammo loads easier in the chamber and why the mag is easier to completely insert...used same amount of rounds in mag when comparing both brass/steel and there is a noticeable difference. Any idea what else it could be?

^   I shot tula/herters from cabelas and so far ive had 3 FTE, a double feed out of 400 steel casing, out of the 80 remington umc's, no issues. Honestly couldn't tell ya a reason on steel vs. brass but imo steel is nice for plinking and not letting the barrel get hot, for all around shtf/training i would use brass 100%, for home defense, brass over steel obviously.
