so i saw this part listed earlier in the thread but it didn't get much traction. one member said he picked one up for $100, this still sound like a fair price?

i picked up a box of GI parts and there were 5 of these carriers in there. i'm looking to keep one or two but i will need to put a value on the other three sooner or later.

any help is much appreciated......

Dig around in the EE a little bit. There are some in there that have sold - I believe they were around $125 give or take.

missing a screw for the pivot pin.  it looks to be in pretty good shape.  i would say it's worth $1050-$1200.

Not sure, it came on a nice MP C barrel with no drainhole smooth FSB, I believe it to be around 1966 mfg.

Any good ways to tell the difference, or should the '66ish date be enough to tell?

check with a magnet, if it sticks it's carbon steel.  if it doesn't, it's stainless.

Did the magnet check. It didn't attract except for the gas port end, which I thought was odd, must be a steel plug in the end or something. So, it is stainless.

Thank you for your help sir!

yep, the screw into each other.  looks like you have the bigger portion so the other piece is just a head/cap to keep it captured.

Hi, looking at this scope locally and really have no idea as to value.  usually I see the 3x20's for sale but this one is 4x21.
Colt Optics 4x21D by C-More. It's BDC is made for the 5.56mm round. Optics are clear and lenses are scratch free. Seller says this scope was made in the USA and licensed by Colt, not one of the cheaper versions from Japan.

What say ye?

Ok guys, I discovered some m16 selectors in a parts lot that I bought. At first I thought I had to trash them, but after some research seems that they are legal to possess. I have no Idea what the demand of these parts is and/or how much they are worth. Dont really want to hold on to them.

Here are some pics :

I can get more if you need them! Thanks for the help!

Also since I got all of you looking at this. What the hell is this? Looks like a bolt cam pin but is rounded...

Thanks!

the m16 selector has the tick mark so it's later.  not worth a whole lot to the retro guys, someone with a m16 may want a spare.

the second item looks like a sling stud.  not worth much either.

Not exactly the right forum, this is geared more towards retro AR15/M16 stuff. But, since I love M37's, I'll chime in. From the looks of your shotgun, and as long as the bore is nice, you should be looking at around $400, +/- $50.

What year was it made? Serial range? If 1960's, maybe you'll get a little more. 1970's and '80's, around $400 ish. Sometimes they can go up to $600+ if in real nic shape.

Nice shotgun, shame you want to sell it.

So a few years ago I put together a XM16E1 build using a pre October 1964 upper I purchased from CDNN back in 05. I was able to determine it was a pre October upper because it lacked the MP proof that came out later that year. It also lacks the 1-12 marking even though it is a 1 in 12 twist barrel. I put it together with a very low SN nodak spud XM receiver. The butt stock is a XM16 stock with the origional rack number it had when I received it.

Take a look and let me know what you think the upper would be worth as well as the complete rifle. To let you know all the fire controll parts are origional colt M16A1 parts modified to semi auto only. In fact the only incorrect parts in this build are the receiver extension which is a more modern on with the wrench flats and the the buffer is a vietnam era one with the weights. Not the edgewater one.

This one shows the origional carbon steel gas tube. You can tell its an early one by the profile which has its bends closer to the upper reciever than the newer ones.

Here you can see the faint "VP" proof in a triangle which was a colt proof at one time.

Here is a view of the upper with some of the colt proofs.

Here is one of the rear portion of the upper. notice how the webbed portion has no forge coede since colt was the only MFG  at the time and they did not mark this part the other upper

20" barrel, no drain-hole forged FSB, MP-marked between FSB on right side and "12" stamped on bottom of barrel 1" or so from muzzle threads.

Shown on middle rifle:

Going rate, please?

I suppose I should bring something to light about this rifle. I do not intend to sell it. I took quite a while to find all of the parts for it as one might imagine and I cant bring myself to part with  it. Its probably the closest thing I'll ever own to the origional, nearly 50 year old origional. For the rocord the bore is excellent . The carrier is not an origional colt as when I built it I lived in WA and to have a full auto carrier would have been a crime. I found an unmarked carrier with the proper machining marks for the era ie no step off in the tool marks where the carrier rails start and the lathe turned protion of the carrier stops. I didnt take the care of making it up to be a transitional bolt with a mix of phosphated and chromed parts which would have been correct for the era.I wish I had a pic of it but I dont.
Hope that clears everything up.

I found a shop with an SP1 for sale. Sorry I do not have pics.

It is a Colt SP1 Sn# SP94xxx. 20" full stock.

The overall condition is poor. The bolt carrier is worn. The handguards wiggle a lot. The finish is scratched. The pistol grip is missing the trap door.

With this sparse description, how much would this be worth?

OK I don't have any pics of it yet but am considering selling a early E.A. lower off, it is in good working order has an original E.A. grip installed and has a 4 digit serial number.
So I know it will be hard with out pics but was wondering what the going rate on this might be?
Thanks in advance all.

I've been wondering what the value of my early M16 selectors would be. I don't believe I've ever seen one for sale on the forums. These are original not reproductions.

Also, I have some "no tick" selectors and early bend gas tubes that attract to magnets (sorry no photos). What are those going for now a days?

Not planning on selling anything at the moment as I'm still building my first retros. If anything is more valuable than I suspect, I may sell some things to fund the completion of my 604 build (It's taking forever).

the carbon steel gas tubes i have paid $90 recently for them.

no tick selectors if they are colt should fetch $30, the dimpled ones in your pic should bring around $50.  there's a guy that's been selling some on gunbroker for a little more but his prices are usually really high.

if they are clean (no cracks, chips, broken teeth) i can see them bringing $35-$50 depending on how mottled they are.

Need a little more info, pics if you can.

Is there flashing on the front and rear of the FSB?
Any forge codes on the FSB and/or bayonet lug?
If the FSB is smooth front and back (shouldn't have forge codes in this case), does it have a drain hole under the front sight post?
What is the condition?
Does the bore look worn or nice?
Do you have a gauge to check the throat erosion?

Could be anywhere from $150 in rough shape to $400+ if stone mint and depending on some of the above factors.

OK so I'm fairly uneducated about ARs and I'm a noob to the site, been lurking for awhile but just signed up  so please bare with me.
I have what I believe is a Model 01 complete barreled upper minus the duckbill flash suppressor. actually I have all the furnature too. from the serial #
it came from a 1953-1954 Colt Armalite AR-15 #0058xx. this is NOT a typo. I have pics of lower as proof
I also have the original BCG, buffer and spring set and charge handle. basically everything except the lower itself. The barrel is nice with a clean and shiney bore.
I do not have pics of the upper and barrel at this time but if I recall it had a "C" inside a Diamond?? stamped on it??? I'm not 100% sure on that its been atleast 2 years since I looked at it. I will get it from my fathers safe and look at it tomarrow and get pics.
Just wondering what would be a guess on the value of the complete upper?
I know you need alittle more info and if you tell me what to look for I'll let you know what I find.
everything functions as it should as it has been fired on a Semiauto lower.

We are gonna need detailed pics of all of the parts and their markings in order to give you a price eval. Condition plays a big role, but the parts you describe are worth a good chunk of change.

Also just FYI, the entire run of Colt Armalite Model 01 was in 1963. 0058xx is correct serial range for a 601.

Would love to see pics of the lower as well, and maybe a little backstory on how you came to have this kit.

You can refer to the M16 variation guide to compare you parts with original examples. This should clear up some questions you may have.

it came from a 1953-1954 Colt Armalite AR-15 #0058xx. this is NOT a typo.

Without detailed photos, the best anyone can say for certain is its worth A SH%^LOAD.

if they are clean (no cracks, chips, broken teeth) i can see them bringing $35-$50 depending on how mottled they are.

Really? I spent a lot of hours on these, I figured at least 75..I mean heavy mottle HG are almost as rare as 601 furniture or you would see them more often.

Anyone have an idea on value for a USGI XM16E1 barrel gauge set from 1965? I don't have it, or pics of it, but I have a chance to pick it up, just wondering what a fair value would be, never seen one before. Here's a quick description I got from the seller, he also mentioned it is in excellent condition.

"Barrel erosion gauge in wooden box, with FP protrusion gauge and go/no go headspace gauge.
The gauge (with aluminum USGI hang tag) is in a USGI marked oak box with brass hardware (code on the end of the box, top of box is marked Barrel Erosion Gauge XM16E1 M16A1)."

Might have a pic or two later today. Thanks!

ETA: Here a a couple pics of the gauge box and hang tag. Didn't get any more than this from the seller, but hopefully this shed some light on value. He assures me that the gauges are in excellent lightly used condition. Thanks for any insight!

How much is a good condition M16A1 upper worth (no barrel, just upper)? I'm probably going to look for one on gunbroker or the EE soon, and would like to know the going price.

Looking for a  for an appraisal for a 601 Buffer Tube. It has no wrench flats, it's in original configuration. There is 2 small squares of silver aluminum taped on it and it does show some wear.
TIA!

Value of a "pre-ban" PWA A1 lower?

A nice old "pre-ban" (yes, I know the ban is gone, but there seems to be a small market for such things from those behind enemy lines) PWA stripped A1 lower. Has just been reanodized early gray by Victor at US Anodizing. Have been looking around trying to figure out a value/price for this it and haven’t really had any luck. Any idea what something like this might be worth?

on the EE it should be a quick sell at $600-$625.  a few have sold for more than that but i think $625 is fair.

Over the past 4 years I've literally spent thousands of hours hunting parts and researching. When it comes to giving values I don't pull numbers out of my a$$,I look at "sold closed auctions" on GB,,and completed EE sales, and other private sales.Boywonder is on the money. I personally have purchased 3 pre bans in the recent past.1 is a stripped PWA commando marked that I paid $450 for,2nd is a minty SGW that came with the lower parts kit and PG and paid either $400 or $450 for,and last one was a minty 3 digit Colt SP1 sn 49x and it came with complete lower parts kit,a spare LPK the 601 type buffer tube, edgewater buffer, type D stock ,PG and spare set of dimpled pins and paid $750 for it all.
