Has anybody tried the 5.56x45mm?

If so I'm wondering if either grain is a good load for self defense?

IMHO, no... and it is over priced.

There are much more suitable choices out there, using more advanced bullets then Varmint type bullets.

That said.... the Varmint bullets would still put the hurt on.

I'm sure it's good stuff but for less coin I would rather get Hornady. People will argue varmint loads for SD effectiveness but I wouldn't want to receive one that's for sure.
