I've had a Ciener 22 conversion kit for the past 10 years. It has always been 100% reliable with Federal bulk ammo. I run the kit on my Colt 6920 and Bushmaster 20"A2. Both have notched hammers. I'm really thinking about going to a dedicated upper to get better accuracy. I've heard mixed reports about Spikes and TacSolutions dedicated uppers needing un-notched hammers. According to the description on Black Dog Machine's website:
WARNING: Our products are not designed and not to be used with notched hammers or Remmington® Golden Bulk Ammunition. It is also recommended to not use CMMG Magazines with our product. Is this pretty much fact or is it or miss with different hammers? Anyone running a standard "notched" hammer and having success? |

I have the Tactical Solutions AR-22 upper. I put it on a lower with a notched hammer and it hung up, requiring me to remove the buttstock to get it apart.
Stupid me, did not see the warning about the notched hammers. Since using it on a DPMS lower with a DPMS parts kit-that has a non-notched hammer-I have had 100% success with it. Get the Tac-Sol upper, you will love it. |

The Tactical Solutions upper is on big time sale at Black Dog there's another post right here about that. Yup, they are on sale. Here is the link: http://blackdogmachinellc.net/ar15-uppers.aspx I got the LT upper. I'm checking email every 20 minutes for a tracking number on my order. I doubt anyone is working on a Saturday night. I hope they are getting the partying out of their system on weekends rather then the weekdays. slushpup |
