| Starting to look at parts for my next build. Picked up the lower last week(Spikes). Now looking at barrels. How does the PSA Premiums made by FN stack up. I already have one on a previous build and like it. Right now they have them listed at $139. 1/7 CMV Crome Lined HP MP Middy. Should I buy another or look at other manufacturers?I would like to build Mil Spec quality or a little above. Thanks. |

They are fine barrels. I would also take a look at Green Mountain and Faxon as they seem to be in the price range that you are looking at.
If you can hold out, be sure and order the bulk of your parts during Black Friday as the sales are typically well worth the wait. |

It is nothing more than a buzz phrase these days. Many parts/barrels these days surpass the "mil-spec" standards. Buy a good quality barrel from a known and reputable company. The PSA Premium parts and barrels are top notch. Since PSA has FN right in their back yard and has a great relationship with them, they are able to buy at a much cheaper price and pass that savings on to the customers. You will not find many better barrels for the price of the PSA Premium/FN barrels. |
| I am getting a Faxon for my next upper. There is a 35 page thread on their barrels here. |

Barrel manufacturers will build to any spec you want. If as a supplier/ retailer/ dealer/ distributor you want cheap, they can build them very cheap. You can find almost anything in the barrel process that meets a milspec process, but that doesn't mean anything else meets the same standards. |
| What I meant by mil spec or a little above is having the main components as good or better as you would find in a military issued weapon. For my purposes a military grade barrel is all I need. I'm not a competitive shooter. I shoot for fun when I can. I will never wear out a barrel. I would like to go a little higher end with the BCG and trigger. With this one I'm thinking a Fail Zero or WMD BCG and possibly an ALG ACT trigger. Probably go with a Spikes parts kit. I have an SSA in another rifle and although a great trigger it is probably more then I need. Bought my first AR 3 or 4 years ago. Since then I figured out I enjoy putting them together. Just want the guns I build to be quality, nothing crazy or super expensive. |

Definately a nice barrel. Affordable too. But that brings me to the question chrome lined or nitride, tenafer, melonite, qpq or whatever. Which is better and if one is better then the other by how much. I know, I ask a lot of questions. watch this video |
