I did mine for my TA50-4 several years ago. You're drilling into aluminum which is soft of butter, I used a proper sized HSS drill bit. Use a steady hand or like I did a $40 drill press from Harbor Freight. The ideal location is far enough forward that you don't hit the curve too part aft of the hand grip but not too far forward. The square block part is forward of the rear sight but the overhang limits the iron sight to only 400 yards of elevation

It's pretty simple. If I remember correctly, the Trijicon manual suggests that you drill and install the second hole to mount a full-sized ACOG on the carry handle. I can't remember the drill bit that I needed but you'll be able to figure that one out pretty quickly.

Please try to figure out the size yourself - save me from having to pull mine off - I think 3/8th's isn't going to be far off.

Use a drill press or you will have an egg-shaped hole...sorry to say I speak from experience. At the time I was so pissed I was about to buy a new upper. I eventually got over and hardly notice it now. Good Luck |
