I currently have a compact ACOG mounted on my carry handle of my AR-15 A-3 L.E. model.  The single hole on the handle does not give proper eye relief for the site IMO. I would like to move the ACOG back almost on top of the rear sight.  Has anyone drilled the carry handle to do something similar?  And if so, what size/type of bit used?  And finally, any tricks to this, or is it simple, drill and install scope?

It's pretty simple. If I remember correctly, the Trijicon manual suggests that you drill and install the second hole to mount a full-sized ACOG on the carry handle.  I can't remember the drill bit that I needed but you'll be able to figure that one out pretty quickly.

Good luck!

Use a drill press or you will have an egg-shaped hole...sorry to say I speak from experience.  At the time I was so pissed I was about to buy a new upper.  I eventually got over and hardly notice it now.

Good Luck
