I need a scope for my Savage 10FP in .308, I've been useing Nikons with great results infact I have an older Jap made Nikon 6.5x20x44 UCC Monarch on my WOA upper, I bought that scope in 1997 and have never had a problem of any kind with it, and the glass is crystal clear. But now Im on limited funds, and because of that I got burned , I bought a Pentax Game-seeker 30 8x24x50  rifle scope, but after 3 trips to the range it was cashed, and I just sent it back for a refund.  I've read nothing but good about the Mueller 8x32x44 30mm target scope. I like the idea of 32 power, and the target dot, but Im afraid it might turn out like the Pentax I just sent back. I found the Vortex 6.5x20x44 30mm PA for a riddiculously low price and am now considering it as well. In my opinon I would rather have a 20 power scope with good glass than a 32 power scope with just OK glass. So my question is for those of you who are familier with both scopes, how is the Mueller 8x32x44 target scope vs the Viper 6.5x20x44 30mm PA? It seems that the Mueller is offering a whole lot of scope for not alot of money, which kind of worries me because the Pentax was the same way, however all the reviews I've read on the Mueller were quite good, but so are the reviews on the Viper PA, so what do you guys think?
Thanks,
Paul

Pentax has gone to hell since being bought by the copy machine company Ricoh, a few years back.  Before then they were having Burris make their scopes and the Lightseeker 30 was actually a rebranded Burris Black Diamond made in the US with Japanese Asahi Optics (the real original Pentax) glass.  I have one of those, a 6-24x50mm, which is superb.  If you could find a good used one, you would really like it.   Gameseeker today is junk.

Here is something to consider, the Lucid L5 6-24x50mm. This company is really innovative.  I like their red dots, but now I see they are quietly building a reputation in scopes.  The review is on the 6-24x that would be great for varmint shooting on a budget.  I'm looking at their 4-16x44 for midrange use.
