After about 10 weeks of waiting, I've finally finished my first AR.  Received the POF-416 upper today to complete the rifle.  One thing I noticed, the barrel was marked as having a 1:7 twist, when I initially ordered the upper, it was listed as having a 1:9 twist.  I'm not sure of the big differences in twist rates, I think you are more accurate with a smaller twist rate, but the trade off is the becomes worn rapidly, correct?

The Predator rail is a bit bulky, but I can get used to that.  BUIS are really nice, I fired another AR where the BUIS kept falling down with every shot.  These irons lock into place.  Wasn't expecting the rifle to be as heavy as my AK, but it is.  Posted some pics, let me know what you think.

Nice job.

IMO 1/7 twist is more desireable because it will shoot the heavier 75-77gr bullets, while a 1/9 twist may or may not.  Accuracy is not dependant on twist rate and you will probably never notice a difference in life span between the two.

The piston system and the predator rail add some weight but I am sure you will get used to it.  Sometimes adding batteries in the stock will provide enough counter weight to make the rifle seem not lighter but more balanced.

Thanks for clearing that up.  I think what I am mainly unsure about are the optics.  I'm thinking that I should have purchased a magnified scope instead of the EoTech.  Too many decisions!!!

Most would probably suggest shooting a bunch with irons first and then getting an optic.  Which optic depends on what you want to do with rifle.  I love my EOTechs, and Aimpoint, and 1-4x scope, and my 6-14x scope.  Different tasks, different tools.  At the least your indecision is cause for another optic to switch with the EOTech, a different upper to switch with or a second AR altogether.  And thus does BRD begin its progression.
