I noticed that Fulton Armory has an A2 buttstock with built in QD swivel sockets, which looks handy, but I like A1 stocks.  So this half-baked idea of modifying an A1 stock popped into my head.

Has anyone tried this?  Is there enough stock thickness around the buffer tube to mount it high up?  Where can one get the sockets?  (Brownells?)  Would some kind of epoxy be the best way to secure the socket?  Would this allow water to easily enter the storage area in the stock if it isn't mounted next to the buffer tube?

I'm guessing that on an A2 stock the socket goes into the spacer. No spacer on an A1 stock. Is there room without hitting the buffer tube?
