My newest Armalite 16" A4 mid-length has handguards that are not round, but rather almost M4ish in shape... larger and more oblong. I'm not really crazy about these and want to replace them with the regular smaller round mid-length handguards like I have on my older model Armalite, and like most AR stocks are nowadays. Armalite lists replacement mid-length stocks on their website, but have yet to respond to my emails as to whether they are the round or oblong shape. I guess my little $15 purchase inquiry does not warrant a response. Does anyone know of any other manufactures that have black mid-length handguards in the regular round shape? My front handguard cap directly behind the front sight is triangular in shape instead of round if that makes a difference. Thanks for your input. |
Thanks... I'll check out the RRA website. I'm just looking for the regular 8" handguards that are the normal round kind, instead the larger M4 style 8" handguards. Thanks again |

Are you saying you want hand guards like this (photo courtesy of USMC03) or this (photo courtesy of EliteA4Aggie)? If you're looking for the latter (tapered hand guards), then Cavalry Arms has what you're looking for: C8 Tapered Mid-Length Hand Guards. If it's the former (M-4 style fat hand guards) then it's Cavalry Arms again: C6 "M4" Style" Fat Mid-Length Hand Guards. Sorry, but your post, and me having no experience with Armalite rifles, left me a little uncertain as to which one you wanted, so I figured I'd cover all the bases. Hope this helps. Justin EDIT: The above is exactly why I included both. You wrote that you want the round hand guards, and not the M4 style, but the M4 style is round!

here you go: click this scroll down a little. They'll fit with the triangle cap. Is this what you're after? ![]() car is 7.0, mid is 9.0, and rifle is 12.0 IIRC. |
My apologies... I guess I used the wrong terminology. The Armalite guards are large in the rear and taper to a smaller diameter toward the front. They reminded me of my old Colt M4 guards because they seemed to be more tall than wide... hence my description of "oblong". The pic below shows my Bushy with what I'm calling the standard size round handguards. They are pretty much round, and almost a consistent size the full length. This is what I am looking for, except in the mid-length. I guess I'll just go to the next gun show and look around there. That way I can see them before I buy. I really appreciate the thorough and informative replies you and "RRA-A2" posted. I know you guys put a lot of time and effort into helping me, and it's much appreciated.

I have RRA midlength handguards on my Armalite 16"SOF upper. I think they are the best quality. They are stiff, not warped, and they fit tightly together due to little posts on one half that fit into little holes on the other half. Plus they are only $20, IIRC. And yes they are round. Dr. |
Great... this is exactly what I was looking for. After looking at several RRA pictures, I concluded that their handguards would probably work. I ordered some this morning. Thanks for the confirmation. |
