I am anticipating the arrival of an Olympic M4.
Knowing their prior history of min spec mag wells, could someone help me with the magazines that will work? I am particularly interested in the UK steel models, and if they insert easily. Thanks.

I don't know about the mags you are talking about, but I have the same gun and the 30 round mags from Cheaper Than Dirt work well (I beleive they are US Mags) I have heard from other members that they are junk but I have had good luck with them. They also have 20 round "Pro Mag" magazines and they fit and feed very well with that particular model.

I've got a whole ass-load of Brit mags and they all function perfectly in my CAR97M4. The only mags that have given me any trouble are the Orlites and Thermolds, however, they work fine after slightly dremeling the top edge of the mag indent on the mag bodies. Good luck!

Please don't rely on good luck when talking about magazines. Stick with the USGI,SA80, and Thermold mags. You want quality mags like these, because nothing will piss you off faster than mags that fail to feed properly. Check the EE forum for quality mags that I have mentioned.

Mine eats USGI 20's and 30's with no problem. To clarify, these mags that I use have not been rebuilt or tricked out, they are straight out of the can at the local mil surplus shop. This means that they are of varied condition usaully well worn. Scorpion34 OUT!

If the mag is within spec I have no problems with the fit in my Oly. All my refurbished USGI mags either drop free empty or require only a touch to drop (probably thicker coat than original). The SA-80 mags are true empty drop free mags. The couple of USA mags I had required a tractor to pull them out. Hoppy

I have a preban Oly that is a bit tight, but none of the postban lowers that I have are having any problems. If you are buying a new Oly, I wouldn't worry about it.
