I finally got around to my first build and got a problem.  The magazine catch button will not seat itself inside the hole.  I cannot screw it in anymore.  It can still be twisted to the point that it does not align with the hole and you cannot depress the magazine button.   LPK is DPMS and lower receiver is LRB.  Is my button out of spec?

I doubt the problem is with the button. Thousands of them are pushed out at a time. Most likely, the finish on the lower receiver is a bit thick. Just to confirm, with the button removed from the magazine catch and spring, will it "drop" into the hole machined into the receiver? If not, I would first try another button before you get involved into modifying the receiver. IM me if you need a bit of help.

Will it not fit in the hole at all?

Is the threaded piece flush with the face of the button?

You don't screw the button in,you push the button into the hole and turn the catch itself.

Well if i understand your problem correctly, its an easy fix.  I assume you have more threads but you cant screw the button on further cause its hitting the outside of the receiver? Back it off till it can be pushed into its recess again.  turn the receiver so the button is facing down over a non slip surface (rubber mat...carpet etc) put a punch or anything else that will fit and push the button in as far as it will go and that will push the arm out the other side.  You can spin the arm easier than the button. Keep spinning till the threads are even with the button face.  Should fix you right up.  Hope this helps.

This. It sounds to me like you're doing it backwards, and trying to screw in the button.
