Are the Superior Arms lowers the only ones that can be had for under a hundred clams these days?  Or did I overlook one somewhere?  TIA

I picked up three superiors a few months ago.  Very nice and definitely worth the green!

If you keep a close eye out you'll see RRA lowers around $99 once in a while. With recent price hikes though, that may be a thing of the past.

I must not have been hitting the right dealers sites.  I just went through every link in the industry section and found some pretty fair deals on lowers for under $100, some include shipping for under a bill too.  Just needed to look harder, I guess.

eaglefirearms.net has Stag lowers for $95. $90 if you buy 3+. Give Chris a call, he's great to deal with and their customer service is top notch.

What he means is that if you don't pay $150+ for a stripped lower then it is crap.  Oh yeah, it has to say "Colt" on it too.

Sometimes you get less than what you pay for too.

In MY OPINION.......

I have handled about 10 different brands of lowers.  The worst out of the bunch was Oly, Stag, RRA, Mega.

I think Mega's have the nicest machine marks and nicest finish but they are often too thick and I have had to drill out many pin holes and most don't drop free mags.  Stags also seem to have tight mag wells.....again...this is just based on my experience.  There's nothing wrong with getting a good deal on lowers or any ar-15 parts and there are plenty of bargins out there.  But you don't want the hassle of not having mags drop free over a saving of $30.

I think the best budget lowers I have found are DPMS.  Looking forward to trying the Essential Arms lowers.

I will agree that the Oly I had sucked, but the Superior lowers that I have are very good for the price.  I also have a RRA that I have ZERO problems with.

And I've had RRA that I couldn't even put an upper on because they were so out of wack.  I also don't like the RRA dull finish.

I am by no means new at this, I've built guns on Oly, DPMS, PWA, Eagle, Colt, and Superior Arms lowers.  Never had a single problem with any of those lowers.  I'll admit I've had a couple of out of spec parts give me trouble, but never with a lower.  I'm trying to stay away from the Mega's because of finish problems relating to engraving, but I don't think I'd have any problem putting one togather.  I simply find myself in need of at least 3 more lowers, and since I've never had any problems with the under a hundred clams lowers, I'll stick with them until I do.
Aimless those Essential Lowers may be the ticket, any idea when they'll be available?

built 3 stags with no problem...price has gone up on them a little since I bought mine in October, but $90 each shipped for 3 or more is a steal still.  Title2.com

I got my Superior for $80. It was a hell of a deal.

I got one of my Rock River's for $90. This was about the best deal I ever got on a lower. Absolutely the best quality lower I have had (nothing special about the Colt or Bushmaster lowers).

I used Mega.  Not a single problem with mags dropping free.  RRA lower parts kit fit like a glove.  RRA upper fits the lower perfectly.  Couldn't be happier.

I've compared it with Colt, Bushmaster, DPMS and Olympic and every time I walk away more impressed with the Mega.

Check out Essential Arms.  I have had two of their preban lowers (still have one for SBR).  I have two of their new lowers and I cannot complain for the price.  They also make a steel lower.

Mike

Edited as coffee was received and I am better now
