There is no 2 piece gas block that I know of that will fit under LaRue, Knights or Daniel Defense handguard systems.
These all require a one-piece like a PRI, LaRue, Knights, Troy or the one I am coming out with for 0.625" pencil barrels.



Don't despair though, I can remove that permanent muzzle device, install any handguard system you want and then put a new muzzle device on the barrel for you.
Or, just go with a handguard that has more room inside, like a YHM and then use the YHM specter gas block which WILL fit under any YHM handguard.
I have all of those in stock too.

I finished up machine work on your barrel last night so it''s ready to be sent off to my parkerizing guy.
It was the mid-length Armalite HBAR right?
Profiling under the handguards saved 13 ounces.
Shortening it to 14.5" saved another 2.5 ounces so it's just about 1lb lighter now.
This what you wanted right?


On lightweight barrels setup with a 0.750" gas block, the step-up can be left at the muzzle for better support of a muzzle device.
On lightweight barrels setup with a 0.625" gas block, this step-up is a threaded-on bushing.
In that case, you just un-thread the bushing, slide on the gas block and then thread the bushing back into place.

I'm about a month away from getting the first batch of 0.625" low profile gas blocks in.

Any of the "gas blocks" can also be pinned on the barrel as well, just drill a hole that passes through the gas block AND the barrel and put a roll pin in the hole.
This will be just as secure as the original FSB and give you a much better fit with less work than re-shaping and re-finishing a FSB forging.

Look closely at the picture and description below.
Notice the small radius at the base of the taper?
This is where the bushing ends and the barrel profile starts.
The bushing just threads on and off, but it will be tight after having had a muzzle device torqued against it once.
The bushings normally do NOT have wrench flats as in the picture.
I use a piece of leather inside a pair of pliers to remove them.
I have to thead the barrel specially and make the bushing, but after that, you can remove and install it as necessary.

Barrel Threading on lightweight barrels is done like normal barrel threading with a couple exceptions. Lightweight barrels will usually measure about 0.6" at the muzzle. When I turn that down to 1/2" for 1/2-28 threads, it only leaves a 0.05" shoulder. This is too small to properly torque a muzzle device against as most flash hiders have a generous chamfer at the entry of their threads, this chamfer ends up right against the square corner of the lightweight barrel's shoulder and it's not a good situation. This service includes threading the muzzle an extra 3/8" back and making a threaded tapered bushing that will seat against the small barrel shoulder and provide a more proper shoulder to tighten against.

Stainless machines completely different that chromoly.
Stainless chips have a blue/white tint to them.
Chromoly chips are more of a yellow tint to them or dark blue if you are making HOT chips

The barrel you sent in is chromoly.
If you want it made into a lightweight instead, speak up quick because it's about to be sent off to my parkerizing guy.

They have already been ordered and paid for, just waiting for them to come back from the machine shop that's making them.

No problem to permanent attach on a lightweight barrel.

No more news on the new gas blocks, but I do have LaRue 0.625" blocks in stock too.

Gas blocks came in today and they look good.
I'll be inspecting them tonight, but I expect they are good to go.
