Carbine-Length
Most common length gas system.  Usually found on barrel lengths from approximately 10”-18”.es of AR-15 rifles.
Gas Tube Length:  Approximately 7.5”
Handguards or free-float tube Length: Generally between 6.5”-7” in length.  For a concealed gas block look, buy a free float tube 9" or longer like the Spike's Tactical BAR 9".

Mid-Length
Commonly used on barrels from 14”-20”.
Gas Tube Length:  Approximately 9.5”
Handguards or free-float tube Length: Generally between 8.5”-9” in length.  For a concealed gas block look, buy a free float tube 10" or longer like the Midwest Industries T10.

measure from the gas port to where the barrel meets the upper receiver. if its anywhere around 7 inches. go with the mid length. remember, the gas tube goes into the upper a good 2 inches. if its to short your AR will not function, if its to long your AR wont function.

get an a2 style rifle extension, A2 buffer and A2 spring. any time you have a fixed stock you use the A2 style rifle extension. However there are some magpul stocks on the market that are rifle stocks in nature but are adjustable. I just finished my precision rifle and I had to go through the same steps.

This post is full of a lot of Edith Bunker.

Op.... standard rifle length gas tube and a A1/A2 buffer, spring, and extension will do just fine.
