Wasn't that long ago people were throwing that stuff away to upgrade to the new Tango Down grips.

That is super nifty. I picked up a set of what were supposedly LSO prototype midlengths.
They are marked with a 1 and look just like the middy's on the S&W rifles. Like them so much, can't bear to part from them lol. |
|
That's an excellent haul of retro goodness,
thank you for sharing! |

Wish I still had my LSO catalog.
I do have an LSO A1 PG on my Block one-ish M4. Still have an A2 PG in the stash. |
|
I have a set of those carbine HGs.
They don’t feel as glass filled as the colts but the look is GTG |

I've had a set of LSO carbine hand guards since the early 2000s. Used them on a clone 654 until I found some real Colts. I found a set of the rifle length last year. Have never run across a pistol grip that was for sale.

Cool!
I had that catalog (I may still have it). I have one A1 Stowaway grip left and still like them. |

Really cool stuff! All I’ve ever wanted from Lone Star was the A2 grip but now I see M1 stuff….

My only LSA parts are these handguards, but I really like them. Attached File

didn't even know that mid length gas, and LSO, were around at the same time
what do the insides of those mid length hand guards look like? any markings you can show? |

Have a 1978 SP1 that came with LSO handguards, because in the 1980’s whomever owned it tossed the triangle types and wanted to look A2 I guess. They seemed somewhat flimsy compared to real Colts, and I traded them out for Colt triangle takeoffs pretty fast. Sold them here on the EE I believe, wasn’t that much interest at the time despite folks saying they were collectible, I was happy to get enough to make it worth shipping.... had to have been less than 10 years ago as I traded a new “2013 configuration” 6920 that I had about $1000 into for the SP1, which was a deal even back then. Some LEO in CA wanted to “upgrade” and posted in the want to trade section. So I came out OK in my opinion as the SP1 is one of my favorites. But maybe I should have held onto the LSO handguards a while longer...
Just saw the same thing going on with the RRA entry shorty stock. Sold mine dirt cheap in 2004 and replaced it with a real collapsible...now they go for $300!!! So new rule- never sell any oddball AR parts too early! |

Here's an A2 grip. Paid $20 at the fun show yesterday:

I picked up an LSO grip in the EE with a sling swivel on the bottom like the original prototype AR15's. Was that how they came from the factory, or something the seller added?

Most of the Lone Star grips I’ve had came off ICD Thundercat paintball guns.

View Quote It does have the hole, but someone must have added it. It's pretty poorly done, i might end up sending it off to the guy that chops the top off and turns it into a vertical foregrip. |

I scored an LSO A1 grip and "A2" rifle handguards off Ebay a couple of years ago. I almost like them better on my A1 clone than the correct GI furniture, for looks and feel. Plus they give me big time late 80s flashbacks.
Either way, I think the LSO A1 grip is one of the best ever made. I wish I had more. |

4 Screws through the handguard and into the threaded scope rail holes in the top of the Mossberg receiver.

I built mine with a Maverick 88 trigger that has a safety on the trigger guard. It was almost all spare stuff I had lying around. Not counting the SP1, I probably have $200 bucks into it. Its very heavy and impractical It was pure nostalgia for the Movie Predator that made me put it together. "There's something out there waiting for us, and it ain't no man. We're all gonna die." |

I think you'll shear the screws or the threads in the receiver if you run anything heavy. Clever w /the Mav88 FCG, but I dunno about your mount. |
