The also attach slightly differently. I recommend the RAS over the RIS.

The RAS fits M4 and some HBAR contours. It's dependent on a compatible barrel diameter aft of the sight tower. The RIS fits most barrel contours as it clamps to the handguard cap versus the barrel nut (RAS).
Both work well. Neither is a solid as a freefloating handguard. US military buys both by the pallet load. Paul [url]mstn.biz[/url] |

Paul- From what I've heard, the Military have already received 100,000+ Knight's handguards and Knight's was just awarded a contract for roughly 100,000 more. That's a buttload of handguards.... |

Thanks Kevin. I guess I was confused by the wording in Sableco.net's ad stating the M5 is for 20" heavy barrels. Thought this was odd.

THE KAC M5 RAS IS MOST DEFINITELY NOT FOR A "HEAVY BARREL" CONTOUR.
THE KAC M4 AND M5 RAS ARE DESIGNED TO FIT BARRELS THAT MEASURE 0.835" - 0.855" JUST AFT OF THE FRONT SIGHT TOWER. THIS INCLUDES M4 AND M16A2 BARRELS. AS LONG AS IT HAS A HANDGUARD CAP AFT OF THE FRONT SIGHT TOWER, THE KAC M4 RIS WILL FIT ANY BARREL.
