I just got done watching the Jackal on USA and noticed a stock that greatly 99.9% resembled the new Magpul PRS on a sniper rifle, weird thing is the movie was filmed in early 1996, so my question is this, who and when did Magpul develop the PRS

Do a search, development was covered.

I was talking with an old timer the other day, and when I showed him a picture of the PRS, he said it looked like an old stock he used to have back in the 80's. He said it was custom made and the guy who made them didn't sell all that many of them.

Could be the same thing?

ETA: I was talking about an AR15 stock and the answer below is probably correct under your scenario.

Maybe the movie was showing an HK PSG-1?

Or the PRS looks a lot like that?  Or the PRS addresses the same points as the the PSG-1 stock and therefore looks similar?

Well, the PRS is nothing new in concept (adjustable comb height/LOP). It's just never been adapted for the AR15 the way Magpul has done it.

I mean there must be countless riflestocks for countless systems with adjustable LOP and cheek wield. Just take a look at all the HSP or McMillan stocks for the Rem 700.

Yep yep, there has been a few AR15 stocks with adjustable LOP, some with adjustable cheekpiece too, but none done as well as the PRS/HK.

Pacino used an FNC.  It was Val Kilmer who used an HK in the drive in movie scene.
