Damn, 4 hours and 85 looks later and only one response. Does it suck that bad?

I think you did a great job, and I will be trying out your ways in the coming months.
Some people on this board judge abit too quickly and dont take the time to appriciate the hard work of other people... A+ on the great writeup and good pictures. -Jason |

Any one have the link to the post w/ the four stencil patterns for the mpat pattern that was posted a time back?
I do not now why, but I love painted guns... Thanks, Badredfish |
Im going to give that a try to one of my guns. Thanks for sharing this with us
The first one is an SKS stock. The newly painted one is a modified Choate 10/22 stock. |
Very helpful; thanks! Please advise specifics on the tracing material (mylar?) and where to get it.
Even though I'm not a digital camop guy, you did some good work. What paints did you use?
Your welcome. The sheets are a semi transparent plastic that can be purchased at the craft section a Mal Mart. |
For the Multicam color scheme I used....... Krylon Camo Brown and Khaki Model Master Med. Field Green, Panzer Dunkelgelb, Dark Tan and Field Drab. On the Woodland Marpat in the first pic I used..... Krylon Camo Khaki, Black, Med. Brown and O.D. Green. |
I have used it for years, no issues. I do put a thin coats of alumahyde matte clear as a top coat. If you apply it thick it turns out slighty glossy. |
very cool! thank you for the info!
I am about to try something like this... Your pics give me a lot more confidence on the approach. |
Thanks Dace- that blends well with your marpat, but does your marpat blend well in your surroundings? To the terrorists in your suburban neighborhood, you'll look like a big blob of baby poo without a rifle instead of a big blob of baby poo with a black rifle!!! |

Great post and nice work lt557! Maybe I'll work up the courage to try this one day. Did you cut out the tape first, then apply it to the stock or did you cut out the shapes after the tape was on the stock? (I guess this would scratch the stock)
-yj |
I used the cutting board that you see in the second picture. Laid out a few strips of tape, and traced the patterns from the stencils. Then applied |
Cool, your digital camo paint job blends in great on the digital camo print fabric. ;-) Both of these paint jobs look pretty good. I might have to try it myself. I ain't got the ghetto skillz to freehand spray a good camo paint job, I reckon. |
That looks very nice.
I wonder if it just wouldn't be easier to buy little square stickers rather than cutting the tape.z |
BINGO! individual squares are hard to remove and are not repeatable for rifle after rifle. you would need to use a pin to remove the squares one by one... ETA: removal of my super secret ideas on developing the ultimate camo and rule the world... |
Yeah, can't see either.
"Photo Not Available /Fishy\ cupidfish.com" |

Correct.
I was looking for info and IM'ed lt557. At some point in the not so distant future, he'll be uploading the pics to a different web-based photohost. I don't want to have to keep watching the thread until it happens, hence the "tag" on my part. |
HOLY CRAP! Thats a pretty good camo job! |
+1... I have seen this thread like 3 times and I just noticed there was a rifle in this pic. |
The one pic I can see looks way better than my ghetto attempt at digicam that I did over a year ago. I'm waiting for the pic of the multicam; I feel that one will be money, once I can see it.
