What are the best prices you guys have seen on complete ARs lately. Which "cheap" ones should be avoided?

I got my complete Stag M4gery for $775.00.  I thought that was a pretty good deal, and its about $200 more than what I paid for my Coltguard SP1 in 1984.

Just like a car though, it aint the base price that kills ya, its the options.

Fulton Armory is one of the best in my opinion.

I also have a Bushmaster and they are equal.

When I had my first hundred million grand, I spent so much time countin' and rollin' around in it that I didn't have much time for anything else. Now that I'm just a working stiff, I'm price shopping and figured a few thoughts from someone else that has been there could help.

I would not pay more than around $800 for a complete AR, and it would have to be Colt, Armalite, Bushmaster, Rock River Arms, CMMG, CMT, LMT.  Some of those brands might be priced higher than the 800s, but I consider them pretty much equal in quality.

Some people appear to have had bad experiences with Olympic and DPMS, but I've seen rifles from both companies that run 100% fine.  YMMV.

Avoid Hesse and other no-name brands like the plague.

To specifically answer your question - if the number has more than three figures in it, it is defintiely "too much" regardless of who the manufacturer is.   (... for a stock AR - obviously fancy gizmos like free-float tubes and stuff like that can raise the price)

Look at RRA. For fit finish and $$$ I dont think you can go wrong

Go RRA or Bushmaster. You can't go wrong with either of those brands and can be purchased for $750 to $900 depending on the model.

+1 for RRA or BUSHMASTER

With all due respect, I own a DPMS AR and have been impressed with it so far. What's your actual experience with DPMS?

Stick around for awhile and read the forums, your question isn't going to be answered in one thread.

This type of question gets asked so often that this site should have a forum specifically for who thinks what company makes the best AR15 . If you surf the threads here you will see that MANY like certain brands but dislike others and it can be said about ANY AR15 manufacturer (with exception of Hesse/Vulcan asI have never seen anyone that likes those ( well I think I saw where a guy was given a Hesse and liked it but it was free). DPMS and RRA makes a great AR15 at a decent price.

How much $ is too much?

Whatever you can't afford or aren't willing to spend.
This is my reasoning.

Yeah OK NOOB.

The one company that gets BAD reviews here is VULCAN and HESSE (same thing) Those are ARs that one should avoid. There are many happy DPMS here including me.

I only own Colts and DPMS.

Build your own.
Or at least buy the upper seperate from the lower.
Save yourself some money that way.

I sold many hundreds if not over a thousand  DPMS riflles and an equal number of lowers and lower parts kits.  I have had fewer problems or complaints with DPMS than I have had with any other brand.  I have been dealing with DPMS for five years or so.  I do not have any complaints.  They produce an excellent product that is as good as anything currently on the market.  I read all of the DPMS bashing, while I don't want to discount anyone's elses experience you would think with the volume I do I would have run across some of the "crap."  Well I haven't.  Somebody explain that to me.   My explanation is they produce quality.
