I was wondering if you guys could post some PICS of your Home built M4's?
I'll soon be getting my RRA lower and am looking for an M4 upper kit. I would also appreciate any comments and advice since this will be my first build. I've been lurking here for a while but am now ready to take on a build of my own.
Thanks in advance!

inferno715, what upper kit did you use or did you not buy a kit?

the upper is from DPMS, it's a factory 2nd that i got a deal on from them at a gunshow.

barrel is Bushmaster.  i sent the upper to them and they barrel it for me.  it was originally a post ban barrel but i had it threaded last year.

rail system is an ARMS SIR#46C.  also has the ARMS#40 flip up sight.

Here's mine:

Not a kit build, just aquired parts over time and built it up.  The upper receiver is a Bushmaster, barrel assembly is Colt, lower in this pic is an Olympic Arms, although I'm going to switch it out with a DoubleStar receiver since the Olympic matches my Colt A1 upper better.  The upper is actually at Adco right now getting a Phantom put on in place of the muzzle brake in the pic.

Here's mine...

This is not a kit build. To me, the purpose of building your own is to build an AR that better than anything you could buy, simple because it is built to your specs using the best parts you can get. I suggest you do not look at building your own as a way to save money. The net effect is you will probably save some money compared to buying and modifying an AR to the same specs but the savings should not be the goal.

I would also suggest that you not be in an hurry. Hang out for a while. Investigate all of the features and options you are interested in, then when you know exactly what you want, start buying parts.

Of course, I get to post right after the master builder/refinsher/photographer, but here's my humble attempt.

Bushy lower, barrel,  bolt. It's been apart 4 or 5 times.
Shoots 1" @ 100 all day long. With optics.

It's been used to be in 2 other configs.

Settle down, your weapons always look fantastic, and you don't even have to refinish them!!  Aside from that, you have copyrighted the "aerobic AR15 picture", now I've got to look for something new...

A photographer,  I'm not.

A outhouse armorer, I am.
