How about WIN. 223 Q3131-A ISRAEL 55 GRAIN for Home Defense in a 1/9 twist 16 inch barrel, Folks?

I'd feel perfectly safe with that setup. However I prefer a shotgun for home defense....ECS

Outstanding!

I use the Lot 1 or 2 XM193, but would consider Q3131A interchangable.

Surprisingly, not many members here use their AR's as home defense weapons.  I think they are awesome CQB weapons!

At such close ranges you don't have to worry about overpenetration because you're almost guaranteed to get bullet fragmentation!

Yes,

My wife's got the Mossberg ...Here in NoVA, better to have redundency.

The Feds just took another "Charity" away.

Scary

Ever shoot a 16" AR outside without ear protection??? Try it, and imagine what it would be like indoors.

This is why you don't see many operators using them for CQB. Way too much BOOM!!!!

What on earth are you talking about? The military uses nothing but 14.5in bbl ARs and more and more of police SWAT switch every year.

Most without cans.

Your WAY behind the times.  Today the 5.56 carbines (M4s in particular) rule in QCB.  They don't have as many overpenetration issues as pistol caliber rounds, buckshot or slugs.

So there is some noise - You think a 12 gauge is quiet?

How about a knive if you don't want to make some noise.
