Not what you think.
I'm referring to 30+ round Mags. I bought a 60 round surefire mag right before the major panic set in and I'm trying to decide if I really have a use for it. Where do these come in to play? Should have thought about it before I bought it but I was drunk and it showed up 3 weeks later from Botach.
I don't see myself using it for any of the uses I have for my rifle, (training, range, thinning predators out of my AO). I don't even see needing it when the SHTF. I did buy a pouch for it when I bought my pc so I could put it on my pc next to the triple mag pouch and essentially have two more mags but I still don't see how it is more beneficial than just a double stacked mag pouch. Do these have a legitimate use other than being high capacity and therefore evil. Which means cool to own to me.

If anybody asks you why you have something, the default answer should be "Because I want it"
If that's not a good enough answer for them, find someone else to talk to. They make liberals mad and make it easier to turn money into noise, what more reason do you need? I'll probably pick one up for my PDR once it's done. Short bullpup 5.56 with 60rd? Yes please. |

"I wish I had less ammo, was said by no one that has been in a gunfight" (Colion Noir.) Do you want 30 chances or 60 chances to end a violent encounter? This feels like a troll trap. WTF does a "legitimate use" mean? That very statement implies that they are only used for illegitimate purposes in your prejudice. Defending my family and The Constitution is not enough?

Woah Woah this is not a troll post. REPEAT this is not a troll post. Legitimate use means, are they used in combat? Are they used in an LE environment? And I should have been clearer in asking if the weight on the rifle is worth carrying it around. Would you have it on your home defense gun? Is it the best choice for using it to defend the constitution and my family? Would you run it in your gun as your first mag or as a reload in case it got really hairy? Not trying to stir shit just asking a question. I'm not trying to justify keeping it, I've already decided I'm keeping it but wondering if I should use it for a range toy or something else. You don't see many people with a surefire 60 round on their gear in the Tac gear forum just wondering why. Shit you got me paranoid thinking i'm trolling |

If you were ever pinned down, wouldn't you like to have as many rounds as possible before having to reload? Does the military currently use 60 round Surefire in combat? Not to my knowledge, but I'm not in the military so I don't know. They use the m249 so they don't really need 60rd mags in their m4s when they can easily lay down 100 or more rounds at a time. |

Valid point and after thinking I was getting all gung ho to put it on my carrier then started reading about some problems. Gonna range toy it for now till it proves reliable, and if it doesn't, surefire will fix it I'm sure. |

| "The fastest reload is one that never happens" claims Surefire company. I prefer 30 rounds and practice quick mag changes. Carrying 60 rounds is too heavy for my small frame. I think they are good if you have a select fire lower receiver. Other than that, I see no practical use. Not worth the money unless they bring down the price to two aluminummags, considering not panic prices. |
