I would not see why not. At SHOT I will chat with Randall from AR15barrels, he already makes these and might be interested in making them. Or else I will chat with the folks at Dillon and see if they want to make a few ...

I could make a few, but what would the dimensions be? I make mine with the SAME reamer as the barrel. This allows it to serve a couple functions, headspace AND bullet seating length as well as a basic gauge to see if sized cases or loaded ammo will fit. If you want them made to the "minimum" spec, a special reamer would need to be ground. I make my gauges so that a "Go" headspace gauge protrudes 0.001" from the gauge. In use, I tell my customers to size so that the cases are FLUSH to the end of the gauge. This way, they have about 0.002" to 0.003" headspace, nice and snug. If you want MORE headspace, it's easy enough to size so that the cases are below flush. If Tony has barrel stubs sitting around from past 458 barrels, you can either have him make the gauges, or send me some stubs, reamer and gauges and I can knock out a few. |

Marty told me he could send me his reamer and gauges when the reamer comes back from being sharpened.
He's also going to chase down some stub ends from barrel blanks. Hopefully he will reply here as well in case others are interested. Then we can get an idea how many should be made up as it's easier to do them in batches. |

Got two reamers to sharpening, two in use, one at RRA ... gauges, what gauges? We're supposed to use gauges?
 Will get with Randall as soon as possible, I would venture between 5 and 10 to be made, which means I need to find you two barrel stubs ... M |

It is the 5.56mm J-Mag from Jeffredo Gunsights. As I remember it, the J-Mag series included the 5.56mm, .257, .308, 9mm, .41, and .45 J-Mag. These were used in a M1911 conversion unit called the Mach II System. Five barrel lengths were offered from 5" to 14". FWIW: The same eBay seller also has .257 and 9mm J-Mag dies listed. |
