What size vise do I need to hold the action block. I have my action block ordered but I do not know the dimensions of the block. I want to go ahead and get a vise so I will be ready to finish my build.
Any suggestions on a vise are welcome...

Thanks

My Brownell's upper receiver block is 2.5" thick in the section that fits in the vise.

A 4 to 5 inch vise should suffice for any of the various action blocks/methods.  I have a 4".  Bigger should equal stouter though.

I have a 5" vise... but a 4" will do.  The most important thing is that the vise is solidly mounted.  My workbench is assembled with Simpson Strong-Tie Connectors.  It is screwed to the wall.  There are two layers of ply on the benchtop, with glue in between.  The bench and vise do not move.

I am using a 4inch with no problems that I got from Lowes.
