Picked up a used Essential arms rifle recently.  The J-15 lower is set up in A2 configuration.

The upper it was wearing is what appears to be C7 configuration upper [A1 sights, FA and case deflector]with a K [Kaiser forge code].  It has  a recessed dust cover.  Almost a black finish.  Barrel is unmarked and I believe HBAR profile.  A2 feed ramps. Triangle end cap wearing A2 guards when I got it.  I tried measuring the twist with a cleaning rod and came up with 1-9" but my janky system for measuring is not ideal.  Appears to be a cast FSB secured with roll pins vs taper.  I am considering selling it and am just trying to figure out what it is for proper advertising and a realistic price.  Any input or information is appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

Cast FSB could be Olympic Arms.

Thanks, I find it odd the barrel is unmarked.  I found it interesting that it has a cast FSB and came on a cast lower.  From what I have read Essential arms did not sell complete rifles....only lowers.  The guy I bought it from thought it was all EA.

I just noticed there is a retro forum....mods please move if I posted this in the wrong area.  And I'm sorry.

Anyone have anything else to add?  I'm getting ready to put this up for auction and I'm feeling pretty dense not being able to give it an accurate title.

Olympic marked their barrels in front of the FSB with 556, 556 SS, etc. Olympic did and does make nice barrels. However, none I have ever encountered used roll pins for the FSB.

The only place that did back in the day (80-90's) was NESARD. They used the cheapest, seconds, out of spec or worn out surplus they could to sell their parts kits. The fact that this came on an Essential Arms lower pretty much confirms this for me as E.A had the cheapest lowers in the day and the "Frugal" (uninformed) builders bought these. NESARD kits were a crap shoot and many would be builders wondered why theirs wouldn't run right. YMMV.

There were a lot of gun-show kits that had the FSB pinned in place with roll pins back in the days.  @ OP, upper appears to be pieced together from commercial and/or surplus parts.

I have run it past quite a few people and have heard quite a variety of explanations.  Thanks for the help!

Yes there were, and the majority of those were sourced by NESARD.

Just like today, 99% of those selling AR parts at gunshows don't make anything on their tables regardless of what they tell you.

i think for your original question as to how  to list it... i would list it as a mixmaster heavy barreled A1 upper. and let the pictures tell the story..  builders will buy it just to build.. retro guys will buy it to get the A1 parts and sell off what they don't want..

if i was buying it i would get rid of that delta ring install a earlier flat ring and triangle HG's and call it a clone HB A1 sniper.

If it's a NESARD, the delta ring is likely plastic anyway.
