| today I was changing the grip on my armalite m15a2 and when I was done unscrewing the screw I droped the handle. I only found a bolt, washer and a small spring. I did see where the spring went and I know where the screw and washer go but I was woundering I I was missing anything else. I put it together and it workes fine but I did not know if the spring went together with something else or what. any help would be great. |

Hey Joe welcome to the board[wave] . Give this a look over and you can see the part in question.>>Lower assembly Here's a tip for you. When your taking the grip off turn the lower upside down . So that the grip faces toward the ceiling. Good Luck Stop by the Hometown forum (PA board)and introduce yourself to everyone. Depending on what part of the state your in , you might be interested in a shoot we're having in the coming months. Stop over SaFe ShOoTiNg Jerry [):)] |
| I did the same thing and my selector detent stayed in the hole while only the spring fell out. Chances are, that's exactly what happened to you. The detent is flat on the spring side. When I did it, I got paranoid just like you are right now and brought my gun to the shop. They told me most of the time, the detent stays put in there. If you switch from fire to safety and back to fire and you feel it catch at each position, then it's in there. |

You need to go to the bushmaster site and get one of the gov. m16 manuals they will help you out alot. The thing covers everything, even sections on troubleshooting, and maintnence. And for Gods sake dont take your weapon apart untill you know what can fly out when you do. I second the previous coment, Every one should build their own. |

Yeah I lost my safety detent spring the first time i changed out to the trapdoor grip, used a BIC lighter flint spring till I could buy one at the gun show about .50 or so. I then bought an armalite kit with extra springs for every spring in the rifle except the buffer of course. It's pretty handy even has extra bolt cam,and firing pin. Bob [:D] |
