NO, NOT THE CRAPPY PRO MAGS! I noticed a post elswhere that stated Wilson is making thermolds off of the D and D tooling, is this true??? Is the polymer that they are using equivilent or better than the original??? I enjoy using Thermolds for beater mags, choosing to keep my GIs nice and clean for future necessity.
Any info? Thanks!  ETA: I checked the CMMG add and there seems to be some mistaken identity cases here. The mags that CMMG has pictured appear to be the shitty, inferior Chinese mags. They are made of a different plastic and the floorplate design is NOT the same as Thermold. The original US Thermolds are marked as such on the right side of the magazine : THERMOLD D & D, INC. WILSON, N.C. U.S.A. I'll check the Wislon site and see if they have anything but by the looks of it someone has mistake the Wilson N.C. for Wilson Combat. |

correct me if i am wrong.. i thought there was an Import BAN on such items from China.
so why is everyone saying Pro mag thermolds made in china then? |

The ProMags are made in the US, and are based on the Thermold, but are different in a few ways, most notably the floorplate design.
D&D is long out of business, so there won't be anymore Thermolds. I strongly recommend buying USGI mags. -Troy |

I don't think that magazines or certain components are banned but full on rifles are. They are made in China, I have a friend in the plastics business and he showed me some DIRECTLY from the Pro Mag dude who was as proud as could be about them...right on them is a little white sticker "Made in China"......not exactly how one can be proud of that.
How 'bout a group buy on the tooling!

Hmm... the ones I saw didn't have those stickers. Prototypes, maybe? Though it isn't really surprising that they've moved production to China.

why not just buy USGI mags which are readily availabe for $12 each or even get Taiwan steel mags for range use which can be had for $6.99 each?
thermolds look cool for photoshoots, but are obsolete with the AWB gone... YMMV |

I don't wanna think about it.....probably in a scrap yard.....I've seen what happens to tooling that someone doesn't think they'll need any time soon.....it sits in what is called a "boneyard" and it gets rusted together. |

I love synthetic mags, but it looks like no company ever got it right for the M-16. The synthetic mags for AK's are incredible and are virtually impossible to jam or destroy. Why can't someone make polymer mags like that for my AR?

the natural slickness of the polymer feedlips seems to help the rounds feed. GI mags sometimes cause feeding problems with the behemoth .50 cal round. of course thats jut MHO, and my observations of using different mags in my wulf. your mileage may vary. |

The Thermold, as it stands is a nice smotth feeding mag. I think an updated, slightly more advanced, polymer matrix would be nice though. |

I'd buy a half-dozen, maybe more, if they looked good and performed reliably. There's no doubt about it, the Thermolds look great!

I've never had any isues wiht my Thermolds. Hell, I keep looking around to see if someone is going to sell off a bunch for $5 each since they can buy $12 GI now.
