I just wanted to know if anyone els uses Gunzilla? Its the best IMO, Its cleans better than any other stuff I've used.

Heres what they say at there web site.

In Iraq, soldiers reported Gunzilla reduced total weapon malfunctions by 75%.  Many soldiers have reported no weapon malfunctions since they started using Gunzilla and it is considered a life saving product.  Law enforcement is also reporting similar improvements in weapon reliability when they go for re-qualification using only Gunzilla.  We also have gunsmiths reporting guns which were once thought to have mechanical problems performed flawlessly after using Gunzilla

I use it and like it . the smell is the biggist down fall. most folks would like it if they tryed it but the limmited distribution and the price don't help much . the smell makes the dog sneeze and leave the room . most folks are happy with they already have and use ,so you will be pissing in the wind around here on the subject of lube.

So, are you the owner of the company, or a distributer?

Neither, I just love the stuff. Put a little on any part and all the crap just wipes right off. Heres what some people had to say at another forum.

I do use this, but in all fairness, since I've owned my AR (9 months) its all I've ever tried and that's just because I got it free to try and liked it. I just did a shoot 3 weeks ago where I ran 500 rounds through the weapon, 120 in about 10 minutes, and I had no failures of any kind.

I do run the inside of my AR wet rather than dry with Gunzilla (CLP) and so the bolt smokes of course, especially in rapid fire. Amazingly, at the end of the 120 round rapid fire, I had smoke coming out of just about every place on the rifle and the paracord on my sling melted to the barrel.

In any case, I do use Gunzilla as it is a natural product that is non-toxic whereas Breakfree has some components in it that I really don't want on my skin. I say this as I'm a chemist and have been exposed to enough toxic substances in my career and don't want to fry my liver any further. I do find it to be a good product that cleans well, but again, in all fairness, I've not tried any other products. Make your own choices about your use of CLP, lube, etc. My personal experience is that my AR runs very well when the internal components have a wet layer of CLP on them. Additionally, during the day of the 500 round shoot, my rilfe got rained on pretty good and not a bit of rust showed up as I do CLP the outside surfaces as well although very lightly leaving just a film on the metal.

Again, YMMV and your requirements may be different so use whatever works. I also understand that Slip2000 is probably similar, i.e. nontoxic, natural substances and not petroleum based ingredients and a lot of very knowledgeable people use it.

Hey Tempest,

My best guess is that it contains mixtures of things like ethylhexyl ester, ethoxylate, ethanolamine, non-ionic surfactants made from alcohol ethoxylate derived from natural products, carboxy methyl cellulose, etc. Additionally, I suspect that there may be some lineic oil and/or other plant oils such as corn oil present. These are very safe compounds that break down very quickly into very simple Carbons, Nitrogens, and Hydrogens after exposure to water, light, etc after a period of about 28 days. This is one reason the bottle is dark in color to protect the product from uv breakdown.

The substances in CLP that I don't like are the aliphatic hydrocarbons, parafin type hydrocarbons, naphthalene based hydrocarbons and long chain aromatic esters, all of which do irritate skin and which have been implicated in changes in liver function tests to include ALT, GGT, and alkaline phosphatase.

Break Free CLP in particular has been evaluated with mice for its toxicity and after 6 exposures, mice were showing significant changes in a liver enzyme called alkaline phosphatase implying that liver and bone may be affected by prolonged exposure. The test can be found here: Preclinical tests of BF CLP

The more "natural" products based cleaners like Slip2000 or Gunzilla use simpler, shorter, easily broken down molecules that are easy on the liver, easy on the skin, and which are plant derived rather than petroleum based.

Hope this helps with your question.

Give me a break... It's not like its carbon tet.

You're absolutely right. Its not carbon tet but it does have other stuff in it that personally I don't want around me as I'm exposed to carbon tet, methylene chloride, benzene, etc, each day at work. Its just a personal decision to reduce my own chemical exposure and Gunzilla in my case fills the bill. Again, Slip 2000, WS and others are similar products with probably similar ingredients. Slip 2000 has ringing endorsements from a lot of serious players as well. Its all about what works for your situation. That's where you have be informed and knowledgeable enough to make your own independent decisions about what works for you.
