I've settled on a CMMG 16" Midlength 1:7 twist barrel. The thing that I can't decide on is if I should go with a Goverment profile or run a Medium contour barrel. I believe that the MedCon is about 13.4 ounces heavier than the Gov profile. This will be my first, but hopefully not only AR15 and I want to put a 1-4x scope on it and I am leaning towards the MedCon only because I would rather have the lighter weight gov profile in an IDF/K.I.S.S. 14.5" setup. Any insight would greatly help me make up my mind.

If its chrome lined I don't see a reason to go for anything but government profile. Medcon is good for SS barrels.

A1 type barrels are too light for accurate long range shooting. They heat up and string vertically. But they are SOO nice to carry.
