If you want THE cheap method. I found a site which has a recipe for using household lye and fertilizer in a turkey fryer to blue pistols. Pretty neat and the results looked great. It'll take me a day to find the hard copy at home though.

I wouldn't do that on a bet! Lye, fuming ammonia...Fertilizer that terrorists use the make bombs...
Sounds like a good way to provoke a visit by JBT's to me. |

Replace the fertilizer with stump remover. Its much safer (no ammonia) and your next door neighbor won't think you are making improvised explosives.
