I was bored last night, so I started playing around with some toys. Most of these goodies came from Steve @ ADCO Firearms.
TA01NSN and COMP ML2 with Mini-XD and XML Another view Close-up TA01NSN and EOTech with XD-40 and M6 TA01NSN and EOTech, thru the optics TA01 and EOTech with H&K P2000 and M6 TA01 and EOTech, thru the optics (I really liked how these 2 co-witnessed) TA31 TA55 with Sig 225 |
|
Nice collection of optics and accessories [:d] Were there an ACOGholic group you for sure would be required to join [:)], 4 ACOGs? Dayyuuumm!
My Aimpoint and KAC offset mount should arrive today, for the exclusive purpose of mounting in tandem with a TA01NSN, I'm gonna have to ride your thread and post some pics here. |

View Quote Feel free, my friend. I do like the Aimpoint/TA01NSN combo, but I think the EOTech looks great thru the ACOG. I never really liked the reticle on the EOTech, until now. Too fuzzy. The ACOG clears it right up. |
|
Kisara had posted a thread about mounting an EOTech in front of his TA01NSN and said the combination sight picture looks very good, thanks for posting pics [:d] Even without seeing the Aimpoint/TAO1NSN combo sight picture in person or in a thread, I'd assume the EOTech's circle dot reticle is more effective, but this is not yet another EoTech vs. Aimpoint thread [:)]
|
|
The EOTech's reticle is much clearer than the Aimpoint's thru the TA01NSN. I'll try to get a decent pic of the Aimpoint's for comparison.
It could just be my Aimpoint. It's been thru a lot. |

I nominate Ricker for Optics of the Month club President.
NICE collection of high end gear. |
|
How do you like the cheekweld with the TA31 mounted onto the S.I.R. ?
|
|
You have so much shit on that rifle, if the shit was ever to hit the fan you wouldnt get a chance to fight becuase you were too busy turning all that crap on!

Why, Ricker has lots of happiness [:)]
No joy for me today. Brought work home so I could wait for my Aimpoint and KAC offset mount to show, and all I got was some coupons for groceries in the mail [brick] |

Here's some of my happiness

Lumps, I'm waiting for the Aimpoint M2, KAC mount, sling, sling mount, then I'll post a finished project [:D]
This is a half finished one but you've seen it before... |

Stacking a TA01 and an aimpoint or an eotech seems like alot of weight and bulk. I tried it woith my 7MOA Docter and the dot was huge. I am thinking about ordering a little Ziese Z sight for this purpose. Also if it dims enough it might work well in front of a PVS14. Does anybody know anything about the Zsight and if it is NV compatable?
|
|
There were couple of threads on the Z Sight, the reviews aren't good.

Sorry for the blurry pic. Im still trying to get the Aimpoint mounted further back. Im using the ARMS #22M68 mount with the Cantilever raiser put on backwards. The bottom of the riser hits the hump on the RAS 2. Im wondering if I should shave a little aluminum off the bottom of the riser to get it further back? I dunno, this seems to work pretty good.
The Aimpoint/TAO1 combo does add weight. It is sorta bulky. But I kinda like it actually. I still think TA31/TA11 is a better option, but I think I like this better than the TAO1/Dr Optics set up. Granted, I have not shot the TAO1/Dr Optics set up, heck, I havent even shot this set up yet, but I have seen and played with both a little. Aside from the weight, this has a lot going for it. |
|
Hello everyone, nice pics! This is going to be a "HOT" thread I'm sure.
Rick, I know the Magpul stock has an impressive cheekweld, even when extended all the way back. Is there a height problem with the Acog mounted on top of the SIR? NewArguy- feel free to chime in. I know you run a similar setup, but forgot what stock is on your SIR gun. Duffy, part 2 of my MSTN package shipped today. These parts should complete two of my projects (not counting one Acog at Trijicon for repair). Want to get together again and finish them and your MRE up? |

The sight housing is not noticable and the dot is not anoying or in the way at all. (from the very very limited time I have played with it) |

Quoted: How do you like the cheekweld with the TA31 mounted onto the S.I.R. ? View Quote It's just fine for me. Depends on the size of your head (mine grows with each post). The TA51 mount is about 1/8" lower than the ARMS 19S. Every little bit helps. Interestingly enough, the TA01 on the 19S, paired with the choice of red-dot, works just as well as the TA01NSN on the shorter TA51 and a red-dot. Either combo lines up properly. Nice pics everyone. Thanks for the comments. |

Ah oh, AK Mike has come to crash the party [:p]
Kisara we have the long range rifle class this weekend, but Friday I'll be open [:)] |

I love the cheekweld of the M93 stock. The ARMS 19S is a little higher than I like, but I'm doing OK with the TA51 mount. |

Quoted: Ah oh, AK Mike has come to crash the party [:p] View Quote Duffy, you have enough to HOST the party [;)]. Sorry to keep recycling the same pic, it's the only one I have that shows the cool optics, didn't mean to bring the rest to the party. If it makes anyone feel better - I have only shot exactly one of those uppers, and one of those lowers - the rest are all still virgins for me. I'll keep you guessing as to what one combination I have actually had the pleasure of firing. Heck, I haven't fired 80% of my guns due to lack of opportunity. I STILL NEED A TA-31!!! Problem is I went broke buying what you saw. I would also like to try an EOTech. Remember, if you are going to throwout your old IR and NV gear, I am not above charity or handouts...I will work for optics & accessories. |
|
AK Mike you like my new sig? [:d]
I'll take it off in a few days...maybe [:)] |
|
I'm actually worthy enough to be quoted? Duffy, I'll consider that free advertising! [;)]
|
|
AK Mike you have two of the nicest SPRs outside of Wes' (or as Lumpy puts it, "that pimp Wes" or "my pusher" lol) office, when my 20" rifle grows up it wants to be one of those [:d]
Here's a crappy pic till tomorrow with better light for taking pics |

Argh! Your rifle has the only thing my SPR is missing - the tiny red dot, my tactical cap rail is bare!
That is one awesome rig, Duffy! Edited to say, it looks like I'm not the only one hooked on MSTN... |
|
Thx! [:)] I have a JP adjustable trigger in it I have to use red locktite to lock down the adjusting screws still, also have to work on the KAC offset mount because with the BUIS there's hardly any room left for it in front.. this rifle now is all show and no go, lol.

either you guys are holding up your local gun dealer or getting paid WAY too much for your jobs...
yeah... I'm jealous... I can only dream for some of the items some of you have... |

An then one could put up one of the three apperature / sights of the ARMs #40. So have BUOS = Doc Optical (back up optical sight) SBUOS = Aimpoint (second back up optical sight) BUIS = Arms #40 |
|
TheRicker,
What sort of grip is that on your M4? I thought it was an Ergo grip at first, but it looks different (smoother?) than the one I've got. |
|
That's the Magpul grip. Almost identical to the Ergo. I think they licensed the design.
