| I live in NJ and the law requires me to have a permanently attached muzzle brake on my AR15. I have a Troy Claymore Muzzle Brake the diameter it is slightly less then an inch. Also I have the standard A2 front sight. I was wondering if anyone knows how to get around this so I can put a free float handguard on my AR.http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/upper-parts/muzzle-accessories/troy-claymore-muzzle-brake-5-56-sbra-clm-05bt-00.html |

So the idea is that you want free float without removing any of the forward components.
You'll need a system that utilizes the stock barrel nut or slips over the rail on the receiver and encapsulates the delta ring. I'm not schooled enough in either to know what is best, but I can say the first option seems sturdier to me. Using the existing barrel nut likely means that you will have to cut off the delta ring in some way. If you are just going for looks or mounting options, there are also drop in rail systems that require no work. Unless someone chimes in with options... I'd start searching for terms like "rail that uses stock barrel nut". |

Something like this? Says no gun smithing required. Not exactly sure how it goes on but I think it will work without removing the FSB

That^^^^... if it works, contradicts what I said (which, I'm sure was the point behind the product) - but it's pretty cool.
I'm trying to envision what it has to clamp onto, but nothing all that robust is coming to mind. Can anyone elaborate on how yours went on and how it feels? |
