I am working on a 24" varmiter build, and am curios about adding a flash suppressor. I see that J&T offers a bull kit that I really like, and they offer the option of porting the barrel. will this work sufficiently for a decent flash supressor?

Should I go with a different upper, can I get a bull barrel threaded for a flash supressor, without screwing up the accuracy of the barrel?

porting will give you more flash

curious, why do you want a flash suppressor on a 24" bull barrel? typically those type of varminter builds lack flash suppression since there is no reason for it.

what do you plan on doing with the rifle?
bigger (bull) and longer (24") doesn't necessarily mean better or more accurate...
it does mean heavier and harder to maneuver with...

This is going to be a bench gun for my wife. She loves to shoot at the range. Max distance will probably be under 500 yards, 220 yards being the max for now, till we get a range set up on some private land for more distance. I have been debating about 20 or 24 inch barrels, are there thoughts that a 20 inch barrel would be better suited for my needs? Flash supression is more of a cuiosity at this point, although she has has mentioned that a supressor would be fun to add later on. ( have I mentioned that I LOVE my wife's interests? ) So if you have different thoughts on what I should be building her, throw em out there!

personally, i think 24" bull barrels are overkill on the AR platform.

I would go with a free floated 20" stainless match grade HBAR probably in a wylde chamber... for twist you should consider what rounds you want to fire the most. if you are shooting lighter rounds (40-50gr) a slower twist would be optimal, where as if you are shooting something like a 77gr SMK a 1/7 twist would probably be best for accuracy... this is just my opinion...

if this is for your wife, take into consideration that the bull barrel is going to be HEAVY... a bull barrel with a can will be UNBEARABLY HEAVY...
