Got a new upper today, and the takedown pin spacing isn't lining up.  It looks as if the lower hole spacing is the slightest bit wider than the upper.  I can get the pins in one at a time, and they fit without any play or problems, but I can't get both of them in at the same time.

It's an unknown upper, and an older Olympic stop sign lower.  The upper I just got used with a colt barrel, it might be a colt upper for all I know, but I am not sure.

What is the best way to fix this?

First you need to try to get it to fit with other lowers to determine if it's your existing lower or if it's the new upper that is the problem. I would even try the existing lower with other uppers as well.

It fits great with a 16" Olympic Upper that I got the lower with, but I guess it should :/
That was actually part of my plan, to take it to a shop I know where they probably have other uppers to try, tomorrow.
Figured I'd toss the question out here meanwhile :)
Thanks for the input

I've run into a few upper/lower combos that didn't play nicely together. Usually, changing out for a different lower, OR a different upper, solves the issue. No two forged lowers are ever EXACTLY the same. The same is true of uppers. Sometimes, between the two of them, they're just enough "out" to not play nicely.

If your upper fails to fit on another lower, then it's probably the upper...
