So, I'm thinking about doing my first build and can't decide which lower to go with. I have tried to find info on this subject by doing a search but came up empty. From what I have read on various threads it appears I can't go wrong with LMT, Stag, or CMMG. Considering I want a 16" M4gery type rifle what says the experienced builders? |

Which ever one you can get the best deal on. Oly's tend to be very tight in some places they shouldn't be. The others all have good reputations. They are all forged receivers and none really brings anything to the table that the others don't. You will generally spend more on a LMT or CMMG. LMT had a batch of receivers that came out kind of purple. Not big deal to some, but huge to others who spend the extra cash and hope for a black receiver. |

I have 10 Bushmaster lowers and 5 from Cavalry Arms. The sole reason I went with Bushmaster lowers was for the name and resale value. At the time I paid about $15 more for each of them than lesser name lowers. The Cav lowers will eventually be SBR'd and engraved so they will have no resale value. Although, with Cav Arms popularity non-engraved will hold value. Both lowers are made at the same place so it isn't a quality issue. Pay a bit more for the name on the stripped lower if you are looking at possible future resale. They are never going to be cheaper than they are now. |
