This is my first post. I will be receiving my first AR on Friday. I have been shooting for 25 years and have several other guns and I also reload.

However, I know nothing about AR's other than I always wanted one. I saw an opportunity to trade a gun I don't shoot much anymore for one and so I thought what the heck and went for it.

Upper: A2 Hbar "Keyhole" (Cerro)
Barrel: 16" ERShaw 1:9 Chrome Moly with perm attached flash hider
Lower: Double Star (Brand New)
LPK: DPMS
Bolt/BC: Not named but listed as brand new
Stock: 4 Position with an aftermarket grip
Condition: Used Like New, with some new parts

Here are my questions..
1. What should I refer to this rifle as, is it an AR15 or what?
2. How much is it worth, what would you expect a price tag on this to say?
3. How does it rate in the world of Black Rifles?

Thanks for any help..

Yes and No. AR15 is a licenced trademark owned by Colt, however the AR15 design is not, call it your M4

Anyone else willing to offer any input??? I'm just really curious about knowing more about what I am getting.

i would say its probly worth 500-600 dollar, while its not a popular brand such as colt, BM, armalite, or RRA, from my expierience, your rifle will do everything that the more expensive rifles will do.

i have built two from various parts like you have and the end reults were allways good. they were just as reliable as any high end AR that i have shot

I would refer to it as an AR or AR15, to me any sub-16 inch carbine is an m4, even though it does not have the m4 barrel and is not full auto

1. "AR" or "AR-15" is fine.  Unless it has a M4 profile barrel I wouldn't call it an M4.

2. $500-$600 tops.

3. It's a franken gun, and not built from 1st tier parts.  That puts it lower on 'totem pole' of ARs.

bump for any opinions on the Barrel or other specific parts.

Forest nailed it - franken gun built with many less than tier 1 parts.  I agree with the $600 tops figure.  Many guys on this site have similar rifles that work just fine.  A lot depends on what you will do with the rifle and how hard you will use it.  I personally wouldn't own a rifle with parts of unknown origin and quality.  Don't mean that as a rip on you.

I appreciate the honesty. I knew this wasn't going to be a high end gun when I made the trade. I just really don't know anything about the manufacuters or ARs in general. I plan on taking this gun to the range and shooting it no more that 100-200 yards max. It will never see any hard or demanding use in foul conditions. This is really just intended to be a paper punching/plinking gun.
I won't even be able to hunt with it unless I travel out of state. So I figure that for those conditions it will be fine and still allow me to say, "yeah, I have an AR". All that and at least it gets me started out in the world of Black Rifles..God knows I'm an upgrade junky!!

Sounds like it will do what you want it to do.

Sounds like a decent first AR, rest assured there will be more to follow.

For that I'm sure it will be fine.  Be warned, owning one will cause an addiction, you WILL want more.

The Double Star lower is a good lower, on par with the 'top tier' guys. I have worked on quite a few guns for a security company, doing basic service (springs, triggers ect), and found the DS lowers to be very well done. No out of spec parts.

I have a complete DS gun done from a DS stripped lower, and complete M4 kit. It's fine.

Every AR maker has made lemons.......

Welcome to the site. Be careful though, these things are like Gremlins... They tend to multiply when your wife is not looking...
