I have been reading and learnig much here on the forum, thank you for all the helpful information! I just assembled my first lower and i have a problem where if i push the hammer all the way down it clicks once and i am able to fire the lower (release the hammer). If i push the hammer farther back it clicks a second time and it will not release the hammer when i pull the trigger. This is a problem because when i attach the upper and lower and pull the charging handle back the hammer/sear is in the position where it will not fire. Not having assembled a lower before any thoughts would be helpful. Is it possible that the hammer is "out of spec". Is this something i should slowly file down or is this something i should just try to replace? Clearly filing things down in the trigger assembly is not something to take lightly. Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks again for all of the great information here on AR15.COM.

Without pics it sounds like the springs are not installed correctly. Check those first. If that does not fix the problem post some pics.

Yes, take pictures as this would help.

Do you have a set screw, not the pistol grip mounting screw, under the pistol grip?  I have one and I set it in to far and it did the same thing to me.

Go watch THIS VIDEO. You need to take a little off the nose of your disconnector.
