New member here, been lurking for awhile taking notes about my first build. Decided to with a 16" mid-length with a rifle length rail for my first. I would like to keep the cost below $1000, before buying optics. Let me know what you think of the parts list so far.
Upper- -AIM 16" CHF Bravo 13 Upper Receiver(Complete). I have posted the link below as I am not sure if this is a quality upper. It does have a DD 1:7 twist barrel which I have read are good. I am mostly concerned with the BCG as it does not state a manufacturer name, although name isn't everything. http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XAIMDD16BRAVO13&name=AIM+16%22+CHF+.223%2f5.56+Bravo+13+Upper+Receiver&groupid=586 -Magpul MBUS front and rear sights Lower -PSA blem lower -Daniel Defense LPK -Magpul CTR stock -PSA buffer tube, ,buffer, spring, castle nut -magpul ASAP I first thought I would build everything from parts, but that upper is a good deal from others I have looked at in that price range. If this upper/build would not be a quality rifle, please let me know your suggestions as I am new to this rifle. Thanks |

When it comes to the stock, you could probably purchase the stock and buffer assembly all in one at Palmetto. I would save a few bucks and go for the MOE stock over the CTR, my buddy has a CTR on his 16" middy and I have the MOE on my 20" rifle and the feel of his even with the lock down doesn't seem worth the few extra bucks.
Just my opinion though, the MOE is solid and doesn't wiggle for me (mil spec buffer tube). |

thanks for the suggestions. i think i am good to go with the BCG because i read somewhere it is just an unnamed Spikes tactical BCG and like rgerh said, the specs look good.
and I did see on Palmetto's website a lower build kit with the MOE or CTR stock for $120 and $140 respectively so that will help save some money from buying the parts separate. again, thanks for the help |
