Hi Guys, I'm getting ready to start ordering components for my first AR build. The objective is to use this gun for service rifle competition. After spending the last week or so reading a great deal of material on this site and others, I've settled (I think) on the following: - Complete service rifle upper (w/pinned 1/2 MOA sights): White Oak - Stripped lower: Wilson Combat - LPK: Wilson Combat - Trigger: Geissele service model (3GTS) - Ergo grip - A2 buttstock A few questions: - Do those components sound as though they'll suit the mission? - Any appreciable advantage to the Krieger barrel (for an additional $235) over the WOA standard service barrel? - What am I unwittingly omitting? Any & all input appreciated! Ken |

Quoted: I think it sounds awesome for its intended purpose. As far as the barrels, are you good enough with iron sights to realize a difference between the two? Well, having not previously competed in highpower, I think that the only reasonable answer at this point is: No. :-) I figure I'll just save the money and order the standard barrel. After I've (hopefully) begun to improve my classification, I'll rebarrel with the Krieger. Sounds as though I've got a decent parts list for the mission. I'll start ordering the bits & pieces tomorrow morning... Ken |

I could be wrong but i think the ergo grip would disqualify it for service rifle, I think you need an A2. Could be wrong though. Cheers Hmm. I'm getting the A2 buttstock, but I thought that I'd be OK with the ergo grip. Do I need a plain jane GI grip? Ken I don't know the DCM rules, so I will suggest this. Buy the Ergo grip (it's not like they are expensive) and keep your A2 grip in your case, along with a wrench to swap it back onto the rifle if the officials tell you that it's required. Your LPK will come with an A2 grip anyway, so you are covered either way! |
