I would like to thank everyone here for all of the help in purchasing and building my first AR.  I must say that it is a few magnatudes easier assembling ARs then AKs.  This build is a Del-ton M4 kit on a DPMS lower.  Everything went together great and I found a little shortcut with the front take down pin detent.  I pushed the detent in and used a utility knife blade to hold it down while sliding the pin in.  Worked great, anyways here is a picture of it.

Looks great !  I too went with Del-ton M4 16 inch upper. . Nothing but good things to say about them and thier quality .  Customer service and the ar15.com discount was greeat too.  Enjoy the rifle.  I like the idea of the utility knife blade.  I finally got mine in with the wifes assistance  ( longer fingernails).  -scrh1

I have to say that Del-ton's customer service is top notch all the way.

The utility blade worked great since there was enough clearence between it and the pin.  I started out with a flat tipped screwdriver to no avail.  Then my buddy came up with the blade idea and it worked like a charm.

Nice build and another +1 for Del-Ton.  I just finished my first build with one of their M4 uppers, and it went together smoothly.  I used the 1/4" clevis pin tip from someone on this site for the takedown pin detent.  Worked like a charm.

I did get the detachable carry handle and was wondering about adding an Eotech.  Do they just clamp onto the upper or do you need a mount?  If it does mount directly onto the upper, is it high enought to or does one need some type of riser?

They have an integral mount that attaches right to the rails.  GGG and LaRue both make quick detach mounts for EOTechs if you like that option too.  It's plenty high enough by itself too.

I found the front sight post got in the way when I mounted my EOTech flat.  Yes, it gives a true cowitness, but the picture was too "busy" for me.  I just got my LaRue mount the other day, and I really like the bottom 1/3 cowitness better.  Try the flat mount first before you invest $100+, though.

Thanks for the tips!  When I get one, I will try mounting it directly on the upper and see how I like it.

Acutally I did the first time.  Luckily my hand was over it so it wasn't launched never to been seen again.
