Well here it is, all done:
Grizzly/LAR upper lower
Model 1 16" M-4 barrel, 5.56 Nato
Magpul sight and magazines
Tapco , stock, grip and forearm
Delton bolt carrier, Les Baer bolt
DPMS lpk, small parts from Midway

Kuleck and Mckee's book was my bible and assembly went without a hitch, barrel aligned and torqued in at  40 ft. lbs.

I bought the Monarch ammo because it was a good price. I'm going to buy some Remington to sight in. Need to buy a sling and probably a low profile gas block, and  inexpensive optics. I'm a retired cop and just wanted to build something to play with and shoot varmints here in the desert and use for self defense, I have several other guns in my arsenal.

Comments appreciated.

John

Looks nice.  Most here are not fans of Tapco, but if it works then run with it.

Try not to cheap out on optics.  I have spent alot of money trying to save money in the optics department, much more than if I had just went out and bought an Aimpoint in the first place.

Thanks! When I started building I looked everywhere for magpul MOE, but could not find in stock. I tried a Tapco hand guard and liked the fullness as I have large hands, I also liked that it comes with rail covers for the sides and bottom. This is a play toy and I really can't spend $400 or more on optics. One of the other guys in a post on optocs mentioned a nice scope for about $100 but I can't find the post now, a lot of the guys liked their products and I think they is a link somewhere on the site, but I can't find.

Everything I have read make it look like a nice choice, if not willing/able to drop the big bucks.

Very well done.  I think you will be well served with the parts you have given your rifle's mission.  Looks very clean and functional to me.

Might be the Vortex or the like that you are thinking of.  People seem to like them and they are a site sponsor.

I was going to say the same thing about the Tapco.

I'd suggest a Magpu MOE verses the M4 on the stock.

Otherwise, yes good optics are worth the $$$ and your build LOOKS GREAT!

Thanks for the comments. I found the Vortex scope and I like the looks. I think the other scope might have been the Primary Arms knockoff?

Primary  Arms is another great optic that I recommend for those of us that don't have the money right now for an expensive sight. I have one on one of my rifles with a little over a thousand rounds and knocked around a couple of times  it still holds zero. They are a board sponsor and you can find them under the industry tab. Marshall will answer any questions you might have.

Oh yeah the rifle looks great.

For a conventional scope , check out a Burris Fulfield II 3 x 9 for ~ $ 150 .

God bless
