I am building a AR from scratch. i have two questions about the "Armalite A2 Front Sight Clamp On w/ Screws" Link here
1. Are there any suggestions on how to align this for zero? 2. i'ts called an A2 but I am building a flat top upper. i thought the sight had to be a "F" type to align properly for a flat top. Is the "A2" the same as a the F or will it not work for a flat top? |

F marked FSB is for barrels 16 inches or shorter and using flattop upper receiver. If your barrel is 20 inch, it will be fine.
The small amount of extra height in the FSB is needed to work with the detachable carry handle on the carbine length barrels. Throw into the mix the various heights of commercial carry handles, or using a flip up rear sight with unknown height either commercial or milspec, your barrel/sight combination may be right on or just need extra adjustment at the front post. Hard to tell without shooting it, but replacement front sight posts are cheap and easy to swap. |

sorry while I have done a lot with builds I have never built one with a brand new barrel without the FSB attached. I might not understand what the meaning of the F mark is.
My build is with a 14.5 barrel (w/perm FH) so from what you have said I should go with a F type correct? Is the Armalite FSB I am asking about a standard or a F type. It doesn't specifically say can someone confirm either way? |

Word of caution: do not over torque the Allen screws; compatible screws are available at Lowes/Home Depot, but it is a pain in the ass to remove the broken screw. |

Thanks a308garand! I think I understand things better now! As far as installing and aligning this, would I just eyeball it or is there a better way to line it up? https://yhm.net/front-flip-sight-tower-standard-w-o-bayonet-lug.html |
