I just added the Ops shroud to my old A-Alpha. I already had the Ops chin strap system on it, whatever they call that particular piece of tack. I haven't done anything more than walk around the house with it, but I REALLY like it so far. Feels much more stable when you're clickin a 3500 piece of equipment on the front of it.
I'm telling anyone that needs to know to give you guys a holler for all their NVG noggin mounting needs. |

i understand the need for a helmet like this for operators but are they not worrying about their noggins? why not get the MICH/ACH?

There are some types of mission work were speed is everything and weight reduction is a top priority. Btw, WELCOME to the ARFCOM! It's always nice to see 1st posters come on in to our threads. Welcome aboard! Vic |

Bummer, my noggin has a circumference of 24" XL large will fit you just fine. The foam compresses very well with these units! Hope this helps. |

Bummer, my noggin has a circumference of 24" A lot of guys in SAR and VBSS roles wear these helmets for speed. After a while, kevlar can weigh you down and hurt your neck. Besides, the MICH will not stop a rifle round anyway. High speed guys have been running this helmet for a long time. The most notable example is the Black Hawk Down incident. |

What's the point of the rail? What kind of accessories would you mount there, for the life of me I can't think of anything.

Victor-
Do you have a chart of weights for the helmets and components? Are they available (from you) with rails/Velcro on both sides? Any plans to carry the side cut version for use with active hearing protection? |

Victor- Do you have a chart of weights for the helmets and components? Are they available (from you) with rails/Velcro on both sides? Any plans to carry the side cut version for use with active hearing protection? Helmet comes in at 1.1LBS and the rail at 1.1oz. Total helmet weight we offer at approx. 1.3LBS with single rail/side tape and rear strap. If you would like to order a dual sided rail/Velcro, give us a call. We also will be carrying a side cut version in the near future. Currently the units run well with the electronic MUFF from Peltor or Sordins. Hope this helps. |

Are the inch sizes on the TNVC size chart maximum sizes, up from the previous size?
http://www.tacticalnightvision.com/images/helmets/size%20chart.gif Yes. If ones head is in-between, we suggest the lower size. The foam will cushion a bit and still be comfortable. Hope this helps. |

So PT Helmets really has inventory? EVERYBODY I know who ordered one OCONUS from PT has been stiffed. Much better off with colorado kayak supply.
|
|
PT Helmets has been filling MIL/GOV orders for the A-Alpha. They do not have any in stock because their inventory goes out as soon as it comes in. As a dealer, we get them by placing orders. They might not have them in stock, but we do. It you want one (or ten), call us.

I'm looking for a way to mount my A2 aviator on the rail of this fine helmet and I was wondering if there is a mount that would allow me to adjust the position of the light.
Something like this http://www.opsgear.com/Adjustable-Flashlight-Mount-Helmet-Clip-p/ne-nhc-07.htm but with a picatinny mount. |

Hmm, looks like this is perfect for those that need to ride their bicycles to a shoot-out.

i understand the need for a helmet like this for operators but are they not worrying about their noggins? why not get the MICH/ACH? When you really think about it the ballistic helmets wont take anything above a handgun round.... They barely protect against blast shrapnel because most of the shrapnel is coming from the ground up not airbursting over our heads. I guess the only thing they are good for is the random RPG that hits a wall next to you. With that in mind id rather have something lighter and faster that protects against impacts with furniture, vehicle interiors, door jams, ect. Id much rather Roll with a light non ballistic helmet. Thats just me though. Lighter and faster means your ods of getting hit are alot less. Thats the same theory of thought that operators are keeping in mind when they go to a plate carrier over an IOTV. |

http://www.tacticalnightvision.com/images/helmets/size%20chart.gif These are very nice. I am sure sizes above 7 1/2 like 7 3/4 and 8 would sell well if the manufacturer ever decided to expand their sizing. |

NEW half cut and grey color on our new TNVC web site!
|

I have the XL side cut dual velcro/rail version and use it with a Howard Leight headset (radio audio to the headset's input jack), ESS NVG Profile Goggle's, VAS Shroud, Rhino mount, Surefire 6P with 3 Watt IR (never need it with the Gen 3) and a double battery PVS-14 - entire setup works great. I have a large head so I removed the top peice of foam and the headband of the ear protection provides the right amount of padding up there for me.
I highly recommend both the PT A-Alpha and the Howard Leight Active hearing protection. http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/7845/aalpha.jpg |
