I'm a newbie as far as building so please take it easy...

I just bought a YHM phantom FH and it's supposed to have 1/2x28 threading.  I've got a barrel that's supposed to have standard threading as well.

It's pretty hard to do much other than get the threads started (by hand).  Is it supposed to be like this?  Keep in mind I'm visualizing this working like a nut on a bolt.

Thanks!

They should fit.  You might wire brush the threads on the barrel if they look rough.

I have taps and dies for every part on the gun.  I always run thru everything to make sure the threads are clean.  I know that’s overkill but that’s the way I do it.  It’s not unusual to find some pretty tight threads but once I give them the once over they are good to go.

Just cut and paste in your browser

This simple job can screw up your rifle royally if you don't know some basic do's and don't's

Sorry, if you already know this info...........just wanted to make sure

Thanks for the info guys, I did read that thread just before I posted mine.  The thing is I can't "hand tighten" mine.  It will only go about .5-.75 of a turn onto the barrel before it gets beyond hand tightening strength.  I stopped trying because I don't want to mess up the threads of either the FH of the barrel.

Barrel = ABS carbon fiber wrapped stainless
FH = YHM phantom 5C2
