Well been around here too long and ended up with a TA31 for the M16A1 (well actually the M4 and HBAR flattops ... and even worst is the moment paid for the TA31 started looking at a TA31F or TA01NSN w/Aimpoint for the HBAR if the M4 gets the TA31 .

Now the questions ... a I assume even using a good grade of black duct tape is not really going to be a proper mount for the TA31 on the flattops ... thus which mount does one go with and which BUIS if any (still have the A1 stock on the rifle at the moment ... works well and hate to swap stocks too many times on a transferable RR).

In review appears there are two general options (besides the duct tape that is

ACOG flattop adaptor which might allow a KAC300 meter sight, holds well but is not really for easy take off.  Might be a good option if passing on BUIS until such time as break down and get one of the carbine stocks for the M16A1.

ARMs #19 (acog) mount which might allow a ARMs#40 BUIS (not that the ACOG is coming off much).

Comments, pictures, links etc. appreciated in particular if there is a third option I have missed.

Thanks
John

Single throw lever 19S and the ARMS 40.  It will fit so well you would think one company made all 3 to fit together from the start.

Dont listen to these guys, they are all full of crap. They know not what they speak. What you really need is the ARMS #19s mount.

The arms#19s fits right up next to the TA-31 and the two parts look like they are made to fit together. It almost looks like their is a slot for the 19s and Arms#40 to fit together. The 19s is lighter and smaller than the 19.

Thanks!

When checking the ARMs web page only saw the dual lever ARMS #19(acog) and was wondering how everyone had fit their #40 sight on the gun (everyone said it was tight ... but with the dual lever mount looked impossible ... because it was).

Which then of course leaves the question of which upper gets the first ACOG ... (if get the second ACOG the PSS project is scrapped, find is interesting that the ACOG's go for more than the PSS now days).

Its not impossible to fit the 19 dual throw lever with the 40, just unnecessary.

Is this combination, #40 and #19S, able to be used with a KAC RAS-II?

RAS-II, no prob.  And my combo is the bigger TA11 with the hair-taller 40A2.

19's and #40 fit perfect and give the best eye relief adjustment by one more notch to the rear.
Good shootin, Jack

Yes just barely.  In fact it was designed to just barely fit the optic and BUIS in the space provided.

Thanks for the answer on the RAS-II.  Now I just have to save enough coin of the realm so I can afford one.  The next purchase is going to be a #40, not sure which one, so I have a BUIS instead of having to rely on the detachable handle.
