Re: Trade Name Change
Since our entry into the law enforcement and military markets (back in 1998), we have always used the trade name – HOLOgraphic Diffraction Sight or HDS. At that time, we needed a technical sounding trade name, a catchy 3 word acronym, and we needed to distance these models away from the consumer, lower ended models called the Bushnell HOLOsight.
Starting this last January, we made the decision to alter the trade name to a much more descriptive set of words – the HOLOgraphic Weapon Sight or HWS. We feel this new trade name informs the reader very quickly of the purposes and application of our product: a weapon sight, plain and simple.
We also felt the 2 trade names were very similar so it would cause much less confusion. Both use “HOLOgraphic” and both use “sight”. Another added benefit … we remain the only HOLOgraphic sight device on the worldwide market today. So it is important to point out to the marketplace that the HDS = the HWS. It is the same form, fit, and function.
