I went to the range today & shot my BM 9MM Carbine. My EO 512 went on as usual but after five shots the recital went out. I set it down and shot some other firearms and tried it again and the same thing. I have seven of these sights and never had a problem. The batteries must be ok because when I turn the sight on it stays on till I shoot a couple of rounds. I left it on for 6 hours tonight and it is still on. I am not getting a flashing recital at start up that signals weak batteries. Any ideas or should I just return it to EOTech? Thanks, Mike |
| You may have a compressed battery spring. So firing, with the extra recoil of the 9mm, is causing the battery to bounce in the compartment. It loses contact with the spring and voila...your sight turns off. You way want to gently stretch out the springs in there a smidge. |
Also check the little silver button contacts. I had to push them in and out and get them worked in a little bit as they stuck when it was new. It has worked fine ever since. I don't think it's anything internal since all the electronic parts are sealed in resin. |
Welcome to one of the snags in the EoTech design. A pair of hemostats should be packaged with it for this very issue. Stretch out the springs a tad in in the doughnuts in the battery compartment first. Aren't you glad you weren't using it to defend yourself? Do you see why AR's have BUIS's now? |
But it does not go back on right away. I have to wait about 5 minutes after it shuts down before it will go on again. |
If these fixes don't work, maybe it is broke. Call Eotech and have them make it right. |
