OK, what's the correct way to open the ejection port door? There has to be a better way than prying it open with a small screwdriver. Thank you.

pull the bolt back.

Squeeze the trigger.

push it open from the inside

No offense meant, but in all seriousness why would that be the correct way. Regardless of whether on a gun or not, most things should not be pryed on at all.

+1

Pull bolt or trigger...both will get the job done.

Cycle the action if the weapon is closed and together. If the bolt carrier assembly is already removed, then push it open with your fingers.

OK, thanks, guys. I am building my first AR, but have not yet had the opportunity to closely inspect a complete AR rifle.

Ok, disregard my post then. I thought you had one and you were prying open the dust cover.

Use a screw driver.

At least your name fits.

For rmz:

To elaborate on above statements. The dust cover is automatically opened by contact with the bolt if the weapon is cycled; i.e. you pull the bolt back or fire it. No problems. If the bolt is out and the cover is closed, just push from the inside. Once you get your kit, it will be fairly obvious.

There's a pinhole in front of the CDROM, poke it with a paper clip.
