I was checking on some rifles I ordered a while ago, and  my FFL had contacted DPMS yesterday. The wait time for newly ordered rifles was 16 to 20 months! Based on this I have a question: What would happen to these orders if the new regime passes a new "AWB" before these rifles are produced and sent to the dealers?

I would take that to mean that they are not currently taking orders.

yeah really why even bother. I'd look elsewhere or go buy a new sendero or something. If its a firearm its only gonna go up in value especially in the 16 to 20 week timeframe. Sounds like stag may be able to get something out more timely. Im sure if a new "AWB" was passed through the halls of corruption then as soon as it was signed into law the manfucturer would have to cease production for civilian purchases (i.e. SOL) for pre-ordered firearms that are on a possible ban list. Good luck either way.

I drove out to the St. Cloud airport last night and noticed the entire DPMS parking lot full of cars... they were practically parked on the grass.  It looks like they're working at full capacity to keep up with orders.
